About College

Maharashtra girls education society was established on 2nd October 1884. It was indeed a milestone in girls' education. Following the direction given by the social reformist Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and his revolutionary wife Savitribai, M. G. E. Society took the lead and established Huzurpaga, the second school for girls in Maharashtra.

Keeping in mind the need to develop women's potential and believing in women's empowerment through quality education, the M. G. E. Society, established a junior college for girls in 1975.

Admissions

There is no direct admission to Std. XI in H.H.C.P. Junior college.

All admissions to Std. XI Science, Commerce and Bifocal are under centralized admission procedure of the Department of Education, State Government.

All students seeking admission to H.H.C.P. Junior college must come through this procedure after Std. X result.

Examination

Examinations are part & parcel of any curriculum. All exams are systematized with due solemnity as they have a lasting impact on the students.

All exams are held according to the curriculum & guidelines provided by the Maharashtra state board.

Two unit tests, two term-end exams & internal exams (practicals & orals) are held for Std. XI where as two unit tests & a preliminary exam along with internal exams (practicals & orals) are held for Std. XII as per the semester pattern suggested by the Maharashtra State Board.

Computer assisted learning has become part & parcel of modern day education system. It helps teachers to reach out in an effective way to impart in-depth knowledge of the subject matter. It also helps in generating interest & curiosity in the young minds.

PPTs, documentaries, short films, CDs, interviews of eminent authors, literati, social activities, small scale industrialists, self employed citizens, scientists & luminaries are shown to students to impart greater conceptual knowledge & understanding.

SMS Facility

SMS Facility is introduced to communicate effectively with parent, regarding attendance, examination schedule, timetable & change in timings due to inevitable reasons. Parents have expressed their appreciation regarding the facility.

Janiv Jagruti

'Janiv Jagruti' is a lecture series through which guest lectures are organized on diverse themes such as subject expert guidance, competitive exams, sports, career guidance, personality development, health care, environment, commerce etc.

Mr. Nandakumar Kakirde enlightened our XII standard commerce students on 'share market and stock market' on 12/08/2017.

Dr. Shobha Ahuja shared her valuable insights from her rich experience about 'Health and Nutrition'.

Competitions are the platforms to showcase the talent of the students. Healthy competitions help to develop the values like risk-taking, positive outlook & sportsmanship etc.

Inter collegiate competitions

  • Vaishnavi Jangave (XIth Sc-1) stood first in 'Shravandhara Poetry Recitation Competition'.
  • Our students participated in various group songs, quiz & debate competitions.
  • Our students also participated in various competitions organized under 'Astitva' an event organized by BMCC.
  • Our Jr. wing has bagged 'Antarshaleya Vaktrutva Samiti's Sarvasadharan Vijetepad', consecutively for five years.
  • Our students stood first & won the trophy along with a certificate in 'Intercollegiate Patriotic Song Singing Competition' organized by Sharada Math.
  • Riya Walame & Vaishnavi Jangave stood first & third respectively in 'Intercollegiate Elocution Competition' organized by 'Bhagini Nivedita Pratishthan'.
  • Akanksha Ravindra Pate and Gouri Balaji Kasturkar from XIth Sc1 participated in 'The 10th Brain Bee Competition' organized by 'Pune Regional Brain Bee 2018' and reached the finals. Akanksha Pate won the competition and got selected for 'Indian National Brain Bee (INBB)', under the guidance of Miss. Pradnya Suresh Nigade (Biology Teacher).

Many students miss out good opportunities only due to poor economic background. Some schemes are undertaken for the betterment of the meritorious students facing economic adversity.

Savitribai Phule Dattak Palak Yojana

To promote women empowerment & offer better educational & social status to women Savitribai Phule Dattak Palak Yojana runs on the selfless contributions made by parents & guardians.

This year 100 students from the junior wings are benefited with an amount of Rs. 1,000 each which is Rs. 1,00,000 (one lakh) in all under the scheme.

Parent-teacher meeting

Parent-teacher meetings are organized in a year to inform parents about the disciplinary rules, attendance, curriculum exam pattern, mark distribution, projects, facilities offered, progress reports & performance of the students.

Parent-Teacher Association is formed by selecting parent representatives to resolve the problems & grievances by promoting effective communication.

Parents are informed about the progress of their ward after every examination.

Educational tours are organized every year for both XI & XII standard. These excursions play a vital role in the curriculum as they help children learn experience & explore new concepts in a joyous atmosphere.

Picnic

The excursion for both Science and Commerce streams was organized. XIIth standard students from both the streams visited the Parle -G Factory, Khopoli, Gagangiri Maharaj Math, Wax Museum, Lonavala on 16/09/2017. XIth standard students from both the streams visited Bhuleshwar Temple, and saw the working of a Sugar Factory at Ghodganga Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana, on 11/01/2017.

  • Pradnya Jayram Virkar won the bronze medal in Cricket at the Nationals, on 25th Dec. 2017 at Indore.
  • Ruchika Sameer Dhore stood 3rd at State Level Weight Lifting Competition at Sangli, on 13th October 2017.
  • Shreya Sunil Chandankar participated in state level 400 meter Hurdles Event, organized at Chiplun on 16th Oct. 2017.
  • Divya Gunvant Darekar participated in State Level Kabaddi Competitions conducted at Mumbai on 25th Oct. 2017.
  • Manasvi Milind Andurkar has stood 2nd and 1st in Taekwondo Zonal and State Level Competitions respectively organized at 'Kai. Rajaram Bhiku Pathare Stadium, Pune' on 19th Sep. 2017.
  • Supriya Popat Shivale and Bhagyashree Subhash Kale stood 3rd and 2nd at District Level Karate Competitions held at 'Kai. Rajaram Bhiku Pathare Stadium, Pune' on 13th Sep. 2017.
  • Our Jr. College stood 2nd in Cricket Zonals conducted at S.P. College, Pune.

Activities done by Cadets - (2017-18)

  • Our four NCC cadets participated in 'Ooty Trek' in May 2017.
  • 2nd & 3rd year cadets participated in 'International Yoga Day' celebrations.
  • Our Cadets participated in 'Mega Tree Plantation Drive' on 2nd July 2017 at A.R.A.I. Hills, Paud road.
  • Cadet Pournima Marne bagged a gold medal in 'Obstacle Training Competition'. Vaibhavi Gouddapanvar bagged a silver medal in 'Health and Hygiene' at Inter Group Competition of 'Thal Sainik Camp' in August 2017.
  • Our cadets participated industriously in 'Cleanliness Drive' conducted at 'Mahatma Phule Mandai' and 'Baba Bhide Pool' on 26th August 2017. They also participated in 'Ganesh Immersion Celebrations'.
  • Our 10 cadets were selected for 'Republic Day Selection Camp' at Pune group on 17 September 2017 and for next camp.
  • All NCC cadets participated in 'Cleanliness Drive' on the occasion of 'Gandhi Jayanti'. A rally was organized along with a road show, spreading awareness about cleanliness. They also cleaned the bus stop near Bajirao Road Gate under the same event.
  • Senior under officer Tanvi Vaibhav Bahirat was selected under 'Youth Exchange Programme' held in Dec. 2017 at Bhutan among the twelve NCC cadets from all over India.
  • Cadet Disha Sandeep Jadhav awarded with 'Defense Secretory's Commendation card and a cheque of Rs.10,000 on 26th Jan 2018 for best performance in 'Shooting competition 2016-2017'.
